I must add that you can trim the video, just right-click on file and there you can select Start Time and End Time.

Converted an 80MB AVI file to iPod MP4. Result was a 320MB file - unecessarily large for an iPod in my opinion.

It's very simple converter, with somehow standard options which have more accurate settings than average converters(for example you can type the desired resolution).
Anyway there is lack of advanced settings compared to Daniusoft converter for example (Daniusoft have also the option to trim the video, put watermark (text or image), picture corrections, apply various filters like b&w, old newspaper, etc.. and increase or decrease the audio volume.)
The conversion is extremely fast even on older pc, but the final quality is not very good. Specially on default settings the picture is blurred with annoying "bricks" all over. Increasing the bitrate and lowering the resolution brings much better results, excellent in some cases, but then the file size can be too big for web use for example (flv).
All in all a good converter if you have to do just a basic conversion and if the file size is not a concern. Worth a try for sure.

Another nice GUI frontend for the MPlayer/MEncoder tools.
Extra points for PCHand for showing their original files and most of all for including the GPL license itself.
PCHand is even better then last weeks offer. This frontend can do more, and is even cheaper!

No support for MKV files, no DivX (although it does have XviD) and limited to only 2000 kbps video bitrate which is not even high enough for DVD quality.
It does have a few nifty features such as pulling the title info - but it's not that accurate, finding several 4 second tracks that still need to be removed manually.
Very limited program and it's slower than most of the alternatives too. WinX DVD Ripper is still my ripping software of choice.
