Note that previous versions of this software offered by GOTD were a Lifetime license, whereas today's giveaway is a 1-year license only. (And previous versions should still work fine, if they're not too old. I have version 6.0, from 2015.)

So if you have a previous version, it's probably worth keeping that instead, rather than upgrading - or a year from now you won't have a licensed version at all.

One of the best soft for managing disk partitions. I am using the free version of AOMEI Partition Assistant and it is always updating along with Windows 10. This is a very important function because of using older version on newest Windows could cause serious errors and lose data. This giveaway version is the best solution at least in one year with many advance functions than free version. Suggest to you for rescued tool USB.

How is this different from Aomei Partition Assistant 8.2, which I installed on my Win 10 pro 64-bit in June from GAOTD?

Terry I, 8.2 was an nexpiring 1 year license too... so I did not risk losing an older non-expiring pro license ... got oddles of 3rd party partition managers so not exactly crying out for the latest expiring licensed products. Pro 6.1 was the last giveaway of this product that had a non-expiring license. I *guess* if you have migrated to the 8.x expiring license models and no longer have pro 6.1 you might as well install the free expiring giveaway updates as that should extend the license so it expires later down the road than the previous 8.x expiring license.

I tried to install AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro 8.5 on my computer with Windows 10 64 Pro English 1909.
It finds that there is already installed 8.2 and wants to remove it.
But it fails since the uninstall data files for 8.2 are empty.

Rodolfo Giovanninetti, is version 8.2 still installed or did you uninstall it? If it is still installed but the uninstaller is broken as far as this programmers installer is concerened can you try to uninstal it manually? Or if you still have the installer from their website for the 8.2 pro demo you could try re-installing it to repair the installation and then uninstall it cleanly and try again... or if all else fails extract the pro 8.5 demo from their website and extract it's contents using innoextractor and running it manually from the extracted app folder and using the giveaway license number to activate it... I did the latter which allows me to have the previous Pro 6.1 and to try this without having to uninstall the older non-expiring licensed edition.

I thought I would upgrade. Uninstall older version to installed AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro 8.5 everything went OK, entered the license code and clicked register and received message registration successful only to find after closing and reopening program it had reverted back to the standard edition.
