I know this particular developer has in the past been accused by several GOTDers of some weird ways of doing business, but nothing can be much weirder than today's: SoftOrbits' promotional giveaway of Batch Picture Resizer 7.2, six months after its promotional giveaway of Batch Picture Resizer, er, 7.3:

One can only surmise that either SoftOrbits has been locked out of its own software due to the sudden inexplicable deactivation of 7.3, or that its invitation for helpful suggestions last time around resulted in the advice that the best way to improve 7.3 was to re-issue 7.2.
Either way, it's a mystery, one almost as baffling as why SoftOrbits still persists in trying to get a preposterous $40 for a one-trick function freely available in plenty of excellent $0 software already out there, most notably Irfanview with its simple open program / press b on keyboard / browse to folder / choose images / batch as required.
Thanks, GOTD, and thanks, SoftOrbits, but no thanks.

Downloaded and installed before I noticed this is from SoftOrbits. (I know, I should have checked). They consistently get bad feedback on this site and others because their "registered" software inexplicably reverts to TRIAL mode after a few months. One GOTD reviewer suggested that installing a new offering from SoftOrbits will delete the registration from others you have installed. I haven't tested this, and would appreciate feedback from anyone who has,
A Freeware alternative to this is the (little short of brilliant) FastStone Photo Resizer. Totally free, fast and flexible. I've used it for years, and only downloaded this today's giveaway to compare. Will report when I've done so.
Me again. I compared the current offering with FastStone program and found this to be MUCH faster. 5x. I submitted a more detailed message about an hour ago, but it seems to have been edited out. Can't think why.
Just installed and tried! Bit of a fuss registration wise! The program offers nothing better than Fastone has been giving for years. Probably not as flexible or configurable.Removed from drive easily.

In nov16 I got version 7.3 from GOTD (still installed). Now, how can this be 7.2 (official web page last 7.2 too)?
