Web Form SPAM Protection is a utility to protect forms from being scanned, analyzed and used to send SPAM emails. It encodes form source code, so that form spiders can't work with it and can't use it to send SPAM emails. Web Form SPAM Protection can work both with HTML documents (located on the Internet or on a local computer) and with a separate form source code.

This GAOTD does what it claims pretty well...definitely a must have tool for DROPBOX users (see Ashraf's review above for more info).
However there is a FREE third party plugin called "Dropbox Shell Tools" which does exactly the same thing as this GAOTD without charging a dime though:

My 2 cents for today's giveaway...
I've download and installed it, try to copy a file to my Dropbox public folder. Program said it's copied, it's even go as far as placing the public link to my clipboard (wow, amazing, this program is really going so far as utilizing advanced clipboard technology!).
Then I open my browser, try to navigate to the copied link, and voila! Dropbox said 404.
So this program really goes beyond what it said. It's not only copying your file, it also can compress your file to save space and reducing it with 100% compression ratio to zero byte size.
Oh, btw, to try this amazing technology, you have to own a DropBox account, register via DropBox website. And yes, they have their own software you can install on your computer, free not only for today but forever. But of course, the official software have no 100%-ratio compression, maybe just old school gunzip on transfer encoding.
So go ahead, try by yourself. I'm busy now uninstalling this masterpiece....
"Don't see the use of an add-on to a program not everyone uses."
Really? You could say that about anything and it would make as much (non)sense.
Like what's the point in tires, not everyone has a car.
What's the point in free software, not everyone has a computer. Duh.
Anyway, many of us DO have Dropbox and for us, this little utility is kinda handy. I use the PUBLIC feature a lot, and this makes it easier. So I see the point.
The documentation is, however, insufficient.
The DROPBOX ID required was NOT automatically applied when using the button to make it do so. I know the link was in the clipboard, I pasted it successfully when the button failed. But that method does NOT work either. I found you need to enter ONLY the user ID. Here's how:
Copy the public link like it tells you to. Then paste it in with CONTROL-V
You'll get something like this:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12345678/filename.jpg
In this case, the only thing you want in the DROPBOX ID form is the number between the slashes, before the file name. Here, just delete all the other bits and leave the
12345678
in the ID slot. That makes it work as advertised.
Nicely. No 404.
It does nothing I cant' do by opening several folders, dragging files, then right-clicking on it once it is in PUBLIC. But this is simpler... just right click once, no folder digging.
The PRO version, offered today, has only two benefits over the always-free version... it can be used commercially, and it gives you a choice of COPY or MOVE to dropbox.
Since GOTD prohibits commercial use, supposedly, that benefit is "lost" in the Pro version (if you choose to see it that way).
The MOVE file is seldom the right choice, for me, so the free version would do me as well as the PRO. Still, I'm glad to have been exposed to this simple utility that will make my life just a bit simpler.
THANKS...
Noah, (#10), your suggestion about altering the SEND TO to include the location is good, but you'd still have to navigate into that folder to right click the file to get the public link. So all the folder open and close would still be needed, plus the extra click to start.
So not worthless. Not worth a lot, but free is a pretty good deal, if you use the public folder much.
Jimsock, "moronic" accurately describes folk who refuse to understand that their needs are not everyone's needs. Dropbox's public folder option is damned handy and secure. I can pass a 10 gigabyte file to someone with a link in email.
IMHO, here's a 2-part new year's resolution we can all benefit from
a) show thanks to GAOTD for providing a way to try new software free
and a forum to discuss it and other alternatives
--even if we find only a handful personally useful to our own needs
b) show the same respect to others you'd want for yourself in this forum
and everywhere else
HAPPY 2013 to one and all!
$14.95!? Oh my God are you kidding me!? Anyone can make this! By the way, Dropbox includes this function!
