In the first comments under THE BAD, it says * Doesn’t allow usage of H.264 codec for FLV outputs.
I installed the program and when i looked under PROFILES i found the ability to convert to FLV MPEG-4 MOVIE (*.F4V).
I believe that is the HD output of FLV, right ?
If that's the case, then it actually DOES support HD FLV outputs !
Activation.exe does not register the product! I use Windows 7 Ultra 64
Nice. Now I would have been really, *Really* impressed if Daniusoft Video Converter produced HD video that passed Blu Ray compliance testing -- THAT would have made it a real (& rare) gem -- but as it is Daniusoft's Converter is in good company with a handful of other, very capable converters that handle HD very well.
[Note: Many (most?) Blu Ray authoring apps sold retail, even in the mid-range &/or home markets (e.g. Sony, Roxio/Sonic etc) perform a somewhat stricter than spec *Compliance* test to help make sure your disc plays everywhere. Unfortunately their built-in encoders are usually slow & lack most controls &/or settings, so there is something of a demand for good encoders that produce compliant video. Of course you can always use free-ware &/or open source apps to put together the required files/folders layout to make it playable in many Blu Ray players, & without compliance checking video from Daniusoft Video Converter will *probably* do just fine... it just *might* not play on/in as many players.] [Note2: FWIW Blu Ray doesn't have to be high end, with many <$100 players available, most with std TV outputs, most accepting Blu Ray on DVD (BD5 & BD9) plus AVCHD on DVD discs. It's also cheaper to buy a Blu Ray player with on-line streaming video (NetFlix etc) than it is a NetFlix dedicated box.]
Daniusoft Video Converter is a pretty painless install, with a very low impact on Windows. This appears to be one app where the directions [run Activate *After* install] actually matter. As far as audio/video encoders/decoders go [i.e. CODECs], Daniusoft's converter has & uses it's own -- this is good if you don't want an app taking over audio/video handling on your system -- bad if you need an output format they don't include. Notable is the fact it accepts files encoded with/in the vc1 format -- output formats include H264 [AVC] HD .flv [Flash video] per the profile's description. Speed of transcoding isn't bad at all -- I'd rate it a C+ or B- after testing a dozen or so encoders in the last couple of weeks... H264/AVC HD encoding is just slow, wherever & however you do it, & the fastest I've come across encoding 1080p [1920 X 1080 24fps] to 720p [1280 X 720 24fps] was roughly real-time [depending on the amount of motion in the video, a 1/2 hour clip took me just about 1/2 hour to encode]. I timed that same 1080p -> 720p AVC conversion with a 2 min 15 sec clip, & Daniusoft Video Converter took 3 min 20 sec [to help illustrate the bell curve, many encoders were 2 - 2.5X real-time]. While I *think* it uses some Direct X where my ATI graphics card made a *very* minor contribution, encoding didn't use the card's GPU. It did use all 4 cores of an AMD quad, but none close to 100%. It did not use as much RAM as most of the encoders I tried. Results in mpg2 & AVC 720p HD looked very good, & while the video didn't pass that compliance testing I talked about, the AC3 audio did.
In a nutshell then, & IMHO of course, it wouldn't be a waste of time (& is pretty painless as well) to try this converter to see how it compares to what you use already. But OTOH if you're happy with what you've got, Danuisoft's converter doesn't really bring anything new to the table -- e.g. while the limited editing functions are cool, they're by no means unique, & many people don't use that sort of thing anyway [if you record TV video, many of the major DVR/viewing apps can be set up to detect & skip commercials already, so there's nothing to cut.].
