If someone has the time - would be interesting to list the best sites at converting different PDF types/complexities - as the quality of the end results can vary.
This article compares some freeware options (but is over 12 months old)

Anyway, good morning everyone. It's not been a long time since the last PDF to Word Converter [PDFZilla] has been offered on GAOTD. Hoever, contrary to what the first glance suggests, this is not a normal Pdf2word converter. Actually it opens the file, and allows you to edit it, add annotations to the file before exporting to a Word file or a Text File. However, this generates some problems.
PROS
Quick and small installation.
Sufficient help file to make a seemingly complicated Interface easy-to use and suitable for novices.
A few languages available.
CONS
Opening of PDF files requires navigating to that file in the file browser and double-clicking on it.
No support for batch conversion - OOPS, this is a con that is enough to put this program into the "Failed" category.
Long conversion time even for small files.
Converted output is 12 times larger than the original file, while PDFZilla's output had a similar size (+10%) to the original PDF.
Office 2000 cannot open the program's output.
Quite expensive, even though it can be edited within the program, you can only add text blocks, annotation, etc., and what is most important is that the file can be edited using Word or another Office suite! What is the use the edit the pdf file within the program?
Every line in the converted file is in a text box.
Final Verdict: 4/10 for a pdf2word converter that does not batch convert, which is sufficient to make me uninstall this program. We had better stick to PDFZilla or the MediaVigor Pdf Converter previously offered.

Some PDF to Word Converter @ www.somepdf.com
This is probably even better than today's giveaway.
THE GOOD:
*** Smooth download, installation, automatic activation, program access on Vista x32 OS.
*** Smooth operation of program without need for using Run As Administrator rights option.
*** Simple, clean, easy-to-navigate Graphical User Interface.
THE NOT SO GOOD:
*** Converted Documents did not maintain image/table formats, contrary to what is stated in program description on GOTD page.
*** RTF extension (NOT .DOC extension) is only format available for converted documents - this defeats the whole purpose of converting PDFs to Word files. This does not make any sense at all.
*** Help Menu is minimal and does not fully explain program functions. Also, there are some grammar errors that detract from the professionalism of this program. Simple Quality Control Edit Proofreading check would easily resolve this minor issue.
*** Conversion process takes forever when original PDF document contains many images. In fact, conversion process seems to hang and not achieve 100% completion.
*** Resulting converted RTF-format documents (with images) were completely unreadable.
*** Resulting converted RTF documents (containing 100% text and no images) were readable, but the formatting was way off and the original tables/structures were totally lost. Words were jumbled (not in original order).
SUMMARY:
Based on the above-noted poor conversion results, I sadly give today's GiveAway a two-thumbs-down. Wow, and I had such high hopes for this program. Oh well, maybe future iterations will be much improved. As always, thanks much GOTD, for sharing this program with us.
Hi,
Installed and activated fine on 32 bit XP Pro sp3.
I'm always interested to see the output quality of programs such as this as I do a fair bit of PDF converting and the product I use works but isn't perfect.
I was amazed at the output from PDF2Word, but don't take my word for it, I've included some screen shots..
My Original PDF contains tables with a simple list of spare parts and their prices.

After conversion with PDF2Word.

For added interest I've included a shot of another program I use, it's $40 but does the job (sort of) and it shows that the conversion of my test PDF is possible. Coincidently this is also called PDF2Word but it's from VeryPDF.

An observation I made. It's called PDF2Word when it should really be called PDF2SomethingThatWordMayOpen, ie RTF (Rich Text Format). In conjunction with the fact that my simple invoice PDF was converted into something resembling a music sheet from Mozart's 5th piano concerto ensured uninstallation and a resounding thumbs down.
Regards,
Andy
Nevermind my last comment when I try to redo the misplaced items it does not work. The formating gets all messed up. This would be good for simple documents but nothing extensive.
Since I work from home I get Adobe but I wanted to test the software anyway. If you don't have Adobe then this is better then nothing at all.
Not a keeper for me, but may be good for others. Thumbs down.

Al usarlo por primera vez, el archivo de word (sólo permite guardar .rtf) no mantuvo la disposición original del pdf.
