WinXP SP3: RadioGet became RadioUnGot real quick. Stability was an issue along with stations not connecting and no audio controls within the program. Audio is good; but that is because it uses Media Player resourses. RadioGet relies on other software to run, so why does it cost $25.99? RadioSure is free, loads faster, has more stations listed without having to do a new search each time you load the program, and has it's own audio and recording controls. Nexus Radio is also free; but has a lot of features other than just radio. There are many free internet radio players that are better quality and are self contained.

(not sure if this went through before since it showed a 502 gateway error, so I'm resubmitting this)

Downloaded and installed with no issues on Win XP SP3 dual processor 32 bit computer.

On first run, even before I could perform the registration actions listed in the read me file, a popup informed me that there was an update available, and that the registration would remain valid even if I updated. I didn't want to take the chance, so I cancelled that and then completed the registration process (click on the buy button on the left and follow the instructions from there).

Note: on every start if there's an update available it prompts you. I did update later from RadioGet Ultimate 1.3.8 to RadioGet Ultimate Subscription 1.3.9. I can't recall if the 1.3.8 version stated Subscription, I don't think it did, I think it was just Ultimate. It does seem to have kept the licence info after the update as the buy button didn't reappear.

You have very few settings you can control. I'm used to a healthy options/preferences/settings menu and was surprised at how little there was in there. I was put off by that at first, but really, everything I needed seemed to be in the program so no worries.

The first several radio stations I tried didn't connect. I'd read from reviews on other sites this might be the case so I didn't worry about that too much. I did find a station that connected and started recording.

Note: if you hover the mouse over the station name it'll give you a little info about the station. Choose one that streams at least at 128 kbps otherwise the recordings you make won't be worth keeping - there were quite a few that were only 24-96 kbps.

The station I was listening to had a DJ. His voice usually didn't get recorded either on the music or in it's own file (one of my test songs had one word from him at the start). I read in a review that it only records if title and artist ID info are available. The files were also separated fairly well (not perfectly though). I wasn't sure if that would be the case since the info during recording made it seem like one file ended too soon and the next started too early, but that was probably due to buffering. It didn't seem to mix songs much into one another if they bled over during play, the downside of this is some songs end or start abruptly. Obviously this will depend on the station since some like overlapping songs to prevent recording and others will have no DJ, and/or avoid overlapping.

If you catch a song midway it'll be marked as a Partial recording. As you listen the songs that are recorded are listed so you can delete Partials right away.

You can also choose to have it record only artists you specify. I didn't bother trying that since as long as the bandwidth is being used anyway I might as well save it in a file - who knows what artists I might discover. Someone else may want to report on how well that works.

I did notice if I shut down the program without stopping recording first, the file currently being recorded would be orphaned in the Processing Now folder. I also found some empty folders that were created for some unknown reason.

For complete recordings a Directory will be made of the artist name and the filenames for the songs will be "Artist - Song Title (Year).mp3". I haven't explored the program thoroughly yet, but I didn't see any option to save in other formats.

The ID tag for the songs will only have the title of the song with the year appended as "(Year)" in the title tag, so you will have to fill out the tag later. I'm not sure why they don't include the artist when they already have the info, or put the year in the right place.

Overall the software was a pleasant suprise. I wasn't looking for anything like it since I don't listen to internet radio much. Internet radio always seemed like a waste of bandwidth to me, but with this it makes it worthwhile. I do wish more stations would connect, but I'll just have to work my way through the list and see which ones work and I want to keep (you can list them in a favorite list or move them to a junk folder).

I haven't tried recording multiple stations at once, so if anyone else does, please report on it.

Thanks GAOTD and RadioGet. I'll be keeping this and playing around with it.

What I like most about RadioGet is its ability to automatically record only those artists that you like... The program is very easy to setup and use. I updated after installing and activating the giveaway, and I now have version 1.3.9 running here with no problems of any kind. Windows Vista Ultimate 64x SP2
This is a lot of fun... Thanks !!

@farther- Internet radio is not really for stations you can pick up locally on AM/FM, or even shortwave. It lets you listen to stations from all over the world, and at better quality than AM or shortwave(!). There are stations that do nothing but jazz, nothing but Grateful Dead, nothing but the Goon shows even. No comparison with what is available on broadcast, or even on satellite.
