Complete suite of tools. Much to investigate. At first glance, it appears to be a TuneUp Utilities replacement.

Here it goes...

Program starts with a choice in templates. Nobody likes templates, but these actually are nice and stable / fast responding.

Support for multiple languages? No problem.

* Scan & Clean *
- Registry cleaner. What you would expect.
- Evidence Cleaner for "Windows Cache and History". VERY complete list of things to remove from Windows.
-> Internet Browsing History for IE/Netscape Navigator 9.x/Opera 9.x/Mozilla Firefox 3.x (NO Chrome!)
-> Instant Messaging ICQ 6.5/Yahoo Messenger (typo! messager in GUI)/MSN Messager & Living Messager :) Developers in China maybe? ;p
-> Microsoft Office. No explanation what actually is being removed here.
-> Multimedia (Media Player/Winamp/Real Player/DivX Player/Quick Time/ACDSee 5.0

- File Shredder (1x/3x/7x pass): securely remove files.
- Patch & Update. After a rather loooong scan: I cancelled the scan to write this article (more to do!). Still no idea what this would do... Anyone? :)

* Optimize PC *
- Startup Manager
- Uninstall Manager
- System Optimizer (Network/Disk Cache: 2 steps!/Desktop/File System). More technical info for what you are actually doing here is really needed. I do NOT feel comfortable changing most settings here.
Try Wise Registry Cleaner: it quickly sets your systems options too!
- Service Optimizer. Again, only general profile names. Manually tuning services isn't as comfortable as with default services.msc...
Missed chance! Try http://www.smartpcutilities.com/servicesoptimizer.html.
- Memory Optimizer: Fast or Deep Defrag. No auto-tuning (which probably is for the best)

* Backup & Restore *

* IE Tools *
- BHO Manager (Browser 'Helper' Objects)
- Internet Options (IE screen itself)
- IE Recover: chose to reset several IE settings
- IE Favorites: backup your fav's (use Chrome? :P)
- CONVENIENT! IE Problems: help you resolve IE problems. So you don't have to look for Microsoft Fix-It's right away? Appreciated anyways :)

- opening Defrag automatically ads two items to windows scheduler :(

After my initial approval, I now get annoyed: would this giveaway only work for one year?? Copy-paste: "Extend the license to 3 (three!) years. The default license period is 1 year, you must purchase again when it expires.". JUST THIS makes this a Thumbs Down. I don't like tools that expire. Not when there's no online database supporting this!

THINGS MISSED: change countdown timer boot time check disk...

General Impression? Convenient program for people whom like a specialized privacy cleaner. I do not care about privacy (I LOVE to keep my information saved!). I do care about system maintenance; for that there are better / free tools around. I mentioned a few above...

All in all: thanx, but due to expiration date: no thanx.

Messing with your registry can break your machine :)

Now that I got that out of the way, it is nice to clean up those pesky orphan registry entries. If you do wipe away something that's needed - it's a problem. I've had to reinstall software after doing a careless "registry cleaning" with Glary Utilities. I suppose I was lucky since I just let it do it's thing all on it's own. Participate in selectively cleaning things up, and if you have no idea, then leave it alone.

This is probably the first time I found a working "Award" link in an unfamiliar utility on GAoTD.

Clicked on the CNET link. They gave it a "VERY GOOD" rating back in the day (December 2009) and a CLEAR WARNING FOR ANY PROGRAM LIKE THIS:

"They generally offer a free download and/or system scan, which identifies "problems" in the Windows Registry that they will fix, if you buy the full version, which is usually around $30. If you pay up and just let it do its thing on your registry, there's a darn good chance you'll boot back up to a sick machine, or your programs will have stopped working; the registry cleaner depends on you to distinguish vital entries from rubbish, and if you aren't careful it will delete system files or some such vital organ, leaving you with a forensic investigation. Hope you made a backup!

Well, here's another one. Registry Winner--not a bad pun--that promises to scan your system and free it from the old, dangerous junk that slows it down and compromises your security. Like the others, it has a slick, colorful interface with lots of impressive custom icons, a free scan that digs up some scary-looking stuff, and lots of fix-your-system extras.
