For people still using Windows 8.1, is there any advantage to using Start Menu X Pro over the free Classic Start Menu (from classic shell dot net)?
I assume you can't have both installed on the same PC and you would have to uninstall 1 of them, or can you keep both installed and enable/disable either one on-the-fly?

Jonathan, I use Classic Start Menu on my Win8.1 tablet and installed Start Menu X Pro a last time it was offered here. To avoid what I assumed would be a conflict between the 2 start menu programs, I simply turned off the autostart function of Start Menu X--no issue, then, in having both on my computer. And then, to check Start Menu X out, I simply closed the Classic Start Menu program and started up Start Menu X. In the end, I kept using Classic Start Menu--Start Menu X was just fine, but I didn't see any great benefit of it over Classic Start Menu--although it may have been a bit "sleeker" over Classic Start Menu at the time--and I appreciated the greater customizability I found with Classic Start Menu. Also, nice that Classic Start Menu simply can be freely reinstalled if that's ever needed.

morning...been running an older version on win7 since jan2013....works perfect. never a start menu issue and everything layed out in front of you with one click...microsoft should learn from you. personally will not be upgrading as mine works perfect but do recommend it. always nice to find a program that does what it says without conflicts.

"Classic Shell" runs circles around Star Menu X Pro and it is free plus it includes full customization of Start Menu, Explorer and IExplorer.

With PRO version you get even more + support.

Even, Win 10, actually have a nice and easy customable start menu, I still like Start Menu X - even as my first choice. No, I have no share's in the program. As far as I recall, the developer, uses his time to design Start Menus......and he's pretty good at it. Thanks for the upgrade. In fact I had the freeware version installed. Though, be aware, Start Menu X uses quite some resourses - just in case, the pc isn't a power machine.
Happy weekend and thanks to, Ordinairy Soft, and the team behind GAOTD from Denmark.
