#5, IZE, if you used the real link to ViPNet Safe Disk, you'd see that it's neither freeware (the freeware version is crippled) nor open-source. In any event, TrueCrypt stomps it and Paragon, not only in terms of security, but features.

As I'm writing this, no comments have cleared moderation, but I'll bet dozens of them will say the same thing--use open-source software like TrueCrypt (which is most like this offering) or AxCrypt. While algorithms of proprietary solutions can be verified, and Internet access can be blocked, that doesn't tell you about the endless details which must be handled correctly for true security. The open-source solutions are free and more secure. If security is extremely important, then the drives/folders must be excluded from search indexers, and temporary copies of unencrypted data must be securely wiped.

It seems like good software, I do like Paragon, they make many quality products.. But why use this?
Truecrypt is free, multi-platform, full functional. You could be running Linux, Any form of Windows, possibly Mac OS X and your containers would be compatable with all.

#16, IZE, so you're accusing the developer of ViPNet Safe Disk of lying when they charge you $36.99 for a fully functional license?

I don't like it when people post links to aggregator sites rather than the actual developers. The developer sites nearly always have much more information, and frequently newer versions.

#16, IZE, you're wrong. I checked out the link. Oh it's free but it comes with limitations on the download and it cost $36.99 to remove the limitations. Not such a big deal after all.
