Pros
*Automates what would otherwise need to be done with clone stamp in an image editor
*Has guide lines which you can use to help tell the program how to better fill in the marked area
*In addition to object removal, can: rotate, resize, denoise, sharpen, and increase/decrease brightness
*Has undo/redo (with hotkey support) and zoom in/out features
*Supports JPG/JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, and TIFF images

Cons
*Is not perfect
*Needs more than just the marker tool for selecting areas
*Requires .NET Framework

Well, this GAOTD does its dirty job pretty well, even though I found a little bit tricky to remove objects from a photo of mine using the provided marker: so I can't consider it as a user-friendly software particularly suitable for noobs.

Apart from that, I love its feature designed to compare users' work to the original image by simply right-clicking over it, which is missing in most FREE/PAID similar products out there.

So overall I give it a THUMBS UP but INPAINT, given away here several times in the past, is in my view a better and easier tool for removing objects from pics; so if you (like me) have a working copy of INPAINT installed in your PC, well I think you don't need this GAOTD at all.

i'll wait until someone else gets moderated first (perhaps Ashraf...)

anyway - i read these comments, so i pick up on things... like, a few days ago someone gigged (caught an 'error') another like-type piece of software on claiming to "provide" background that could not possibly be fabricated by the program. It seems like this is what has happened to the third 'before/after' screenshot - HOW did the software provide the 'right-side' of the concrete rectangle? (It's hidden by the car in foreground).

OK - found it (since no one has posted yet):

@3 Peter: (THIS IS FOR: Photo Retoucher 1.3 (March 4th (imagine that Goiv (ie saturation, etc etc))))

"There is no way the program can find out what was “behind the object”, and fill in the “original background”. It’s just analyzing the area around the removed object, and extends this into the empty area left after the removed object."

...except in the sample, it has indeed managed to accomplish the
"impossible"...

best regards;

When something's too good to be true... might it be extraordinary?

From the before/after picture of the Parliament and Big Ben, you can see the car in the center has been removed. Nothing sensational in itself. But if you look closer, you see the socket holding the street light has appeared in very good condition, even though it had been hidden almost completely. Huh.. this seems too good to be true, right? So what is it? A piece of extraordinary software? Or...

In my mind, things that are too good to be true, mostly are not true. But I'll download it and give it a try.

If somebody can reproduce extraordinary results like the advertised one, then please comment and link to the before/after pictures.

I have used Photoupz for quite some time and I love it more each time I use it. I am impressed with it's abilities to erase portions of a picture and zip in the background far better than any clone stamp. It takes practice though. I would suggest a judicious usage of the undo button and trying different techniques. The more you get the "feel" of the algorithms the quicker you can accomplish what you need to do. The program is not perfect but that is the beauty of it. Perfection is often too noticeable in a fractal world! For difficult jobs I will use another program like InPaint to pre-process or post-process a photo. One tip: always process using a format like PNG. JPEG degrades an image each time you re-save it. Save JPEG compression for the final image only.
